World of Warcraft: Hellfire Citadel Blood Furnace
Lore:
The name “Blood Furnace” is actually a bit of a misnomer (of sorts). There is blood involved, but there’s remarkably little furnacing, at least not like you would think of it.
Illidan has this great idea, see. He’s going to enslave demons and have the remnants of the orcish Horde in outlands absorb the demonic blood to increase their power, thereby increasing the power of his army. So he captures the demon lord Magtheridon in Hellfire Citadel, and the blood drinkin’ happens in the furnace.
Degree of Difficulty: Easy
Even though it’s tuned for a higher level, it’s a remarkably easier instance than Ramparts. The trash is still very densely packed, but it’s really never anything to worry about, except in the Broggok encounter where the waves keep coming with no time to rest in between.
The bosses themselves are nothing special at all. The Maker has a mind control. Broggok’s adds are much more difficult to deal with than he is (when he dies though, stay out of the acidic puddle he leaves behind). Keli’dan can wipe you out with his adds or AoE, but neither is terribly difficult, and the AoE won’t even hit you if you’re paying attention.
Special Features:
Access to the Heroic mode can be purchased from your faction’s reputation vendor.
Recommended for Levels: 60-63
The drops aren’t particularily good and neither is the money. Blood Furnace is one of the more obvious “completionist” dungeons in post-Vanilla era WoW. But to get the achievements, finish a couple quests and say that you did it, there’s not really any reason to slog your way though here.
For halfway decenly geared parties (or solo artists), it’s really a cakewalk though. The waves before Broggok are really the worst part about the entire instance, and they only really catch you unprepared the first time. Go through it a time or two because it’s quick, but otherwise there’s no real reason to see the Blood Furnace.
